chrissy corsaroIn Oct 2024 my Girlfriend and I were rear ended by a semi-truck. Since this accident I have struggled more over time instead of getting better. I knew this wasnt just moderate whiplash or Scoliosis pain, this was a silent struggle that crept up on me for years before I realized how badly it had taken over my life. Over the last 2 years, I have struggled to have Doctors understand or take my symptoms seriously. They always wrote it off as overthinking, even the people that were closest to me thought I was looking into my health too much. After many blood tests post accident, everything had come back completely normal. Since then I have had a number of “random” health problems that have quickly worsened much more over the last 4-8 months. After rapidly losing 10lbs in 2 about months, I had a scary ER visit that made me feel like my own body was failing me; I realized I needed answers now. I started to suffer from a number of nuerological symptoms, chronic pain, and chronic fatigue, that no matter how much rest, treatment, or sleep I got, I still felt absolutely terrible everyday. I started to realize I was experiencing much more memory loss, speech, and cognitive issues. I genuinely have had to miss out on so much of my life the last few years and almost everything fun the last few months. My quality of life/functionality has declined significantly, to the point of not having energy to reach out to friends, family, respond to emails or texts. I struggle walking, standing, or even sitting for periods of time. Ive been dizzy and lightheaded every day. Chest tightness, poor circulation, heat/cold sensitivities. My arms/feet feel numb and tingly as soon as I wake up, tripping over myself getting to the bathroom and not enough strength to even grip my phone. Now barely getting through a work day, something seriously was wrong and no one was listening to me because HOW on earth can this almost perfectly healthy 22 year old be experiencing something no one near my age should be. So, my primary and I searched for a specialist; as I had been doing self research for a while, just trying to found out what could be causing everything. Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (HEDS) was something I heavy resonated with along with POTS. So we found a specialist that handles both matters and more. I had a lot of testing done and a DMX MRI of my neck. Over the last week, I was diagnosed with Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Sybdrome, CCI larger than 3.5mm, Pre-Pots, and Autonomic Dysfunction. Prior to this I have already have been dealing with Endometriosis and Scoliosis along with what I thought was the worsening of my AdHd/Mental Health, turned out to be the symptoms of a CCI. This is YOUR sign to ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF. I was told by almost everyone in my life to just relax, take it easy, youre overthinking it. If youre struggling with any chronic illness or undiagnosed illness, this is a reminder that it is not just in your head, your symptoms are valid, and your pain is REAL. You know your own body/mind better than anyone else in this world, so dont stop searching even when it seems like a never ending tunnel. The next few months are for sure going to be an adjusment and a journey to say the least; but Im so grateful to be surrounded by such supportive friends, family, and my doctors. A very special thank you to my amazing girlfriend who has genuinely been there to pick me up on hard days, who steps in for me when I’m hurting, has the patience to sit and understand my pain with me, and has most importantly has stayed so strong and positive throughout it all, despite the issues she deals with from the accident too, she has always found a way to show up for me. Thank you to everyone in my life that has stuck by my side and continue to do so everyday, your support means more than any of you could think, I love you all so much♥️ #CCI #HEDS #endometriosis #autonomicdysfunction #POTS
