Baldwin & Co.“Here are 3 books we’re selling this week! 📚 A Very Special Episode by Camille Acker just came out yesterday, so full disclosure: I haven’t read this one yet. But a novel about Washington, D.C.’s Black elite, generational legacy, race, class, power, and what happens when “progress” comes with a price? Yeah, I’m intrigued. This one is moving straight to the top of my TBR. A Lucky Man by Jamel Brinkley is one I HAVE read, and Brinkley gets at something I’m always interested in: the interior lives of Black men. Masculinity, vulnerability, friendship, family, desire, ego, and all the ways we sometimes get in our own way. Nine stories, and not a wasted one. No Sense in Wishing by Lawrence Burney is part memoir, part cultural criticism, part love letter to the music and places that make us. Burney moves from Baltimore to Lagos, from Gil Scott-Heron to family crab feasts, asking how music, Black culture, place, and memory shape who we become. I read this one and immediately knew exactly who I wanted to sell it to. Three completely different books, but all three are asking questions about Black life, identity, inheritance, and who we get to become. This is my seller’s table this week.” Come see @Jerid P. Woods, Ph.D. And the team in store and let us put you on. 📚 #BaldwinAndCo #neworleans #nola #booktok
